About the Position
The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (AME) will play a key role in supporting senior leadership's strategic goals for profitability and growth. This position is responsible for identifying and implementing Value Analysis/Value Engineering opportunities to drive cost reduction and quality improvements in client products. The AME will collaborate closely with General Managers at each site to identify, plan, and execute operational projects that align with the strategic initiatives set by the Senior Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
Evaluate product designs to identify cost-reduction opportunities through design for manufacturability, alternative component sourcing, component standardization, and material optimization.
Support "should-cost" analysis for both legacy and new products, contributing insights to product modularization and standardization efforts.
Collaborate with site Manufacturing Engineers to establish best practices for Item Structure (BOM) and Work Definition (Routing), ensuring format, content, creation, and maintenance align with Oracle standards.
Serve as a digital and software resource, offering expertise in Oracle, Industry 4.0 software, shop floor interfaces, Product Data Management, and CAD applications.
Support the IS Capex process by contributing to the CAR process, project management, facility standardization, control hardware standardization, layout management, and best practices in manufacturing engineering.
Partner with management to provide senior leadership with insights on IS process capabilities, equipment standardization, product rationalization, and design for manufacturability.
Contribute to the three-year planning process, focusing on product, process, and capacity rationalization for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
Required Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
7-10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with preference for experience in fabrication and assembly across multiple facilities and product lines.
Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes, including metal cutting/forming, assembly, welding, fabrication, painting, tooling, and electrical assembly/routing/integration.
Expertise in BOM and routing management, with a focus on optimizing labor costs.
Proficiency in LEAN, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methods in manufacturing settings.
Familiarity with AutoCAD Inventor is an advantage.
Proven ability to collaborate with and lead cross-functional teams to drive change in a heavy manufacturing, multi-shift environment.
