We are partnered with a leading building materials company to find a skilled Commodity Buyer. This is a critical role where you will leverage your purchasing expertise to drive success by managing, negotiating, and sourcing key materials such as lumber, panels, building materials, hardlines, and millwork.
What You'll Do:
Manage purchase requests and ensure timely procurement of materials and supplies.
Analyze inventory needs, source qualified suppliers, and evaluate bids for cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
Build and maintain strong, strategic supplier relationships to ensure reliability and performance.
Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to optimize inventory levels and support company operations.
Implement cost-control strategies, lead pricing negotiations, and deliver regular purchasing reports to management.
Address supplier issues proactively, including coordinating returns and ensuring credits are processed.
What We're Looking For:
3+ years of experience in purchasing, material planning, or inventory management.
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Proficiency with ERP systems (Bistrack preferred) and Microsoft Office tools.
Experience in the building materials industry and familiarity with lean procurement techniques is a plus.
