Akkodis is seeking a Material Flow Engineer for a 1-year W2 contract job with a client in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Rate Range: $38.00/hour to $40.00/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Role Summary:
Coordinate multiple Material Flow related projects and identify priorities based on current business needs. Design material flow systems and processes to support the Production System. Responsible to develop team network and gain consensus cross functionally for newly identified process improvement opportunities.
Material Flow Engineer job responsibilities include:
Coordinate overall material flow process for production trials and model changes.
Design part flow and material routing for the Body and Assembly production.
Prioritize equipment needs and support Material Flow projects from business case approval through implementation.
Lead activities between Logistics and Material Flow planning to provide safe and efficient processes.
Review Logistics concepts for packaging design and project coordination.
Develop the production process to ensure processes meet safety standards, quality standards, environmental, and OSHA regulations.
Review other manufacturing facilities and develop benchmark systems in an automotive manufacturing environment to meet and exceed company goals and objectives.
Create a continuous improvement environment to develop best in class production system.
Coordinate activities with the maintenance team to minimize production delays due to equipment issues.
Develop systems to meet KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and analyze data to monitor performance and plan improvements.
Identify requirements for vehicle structure to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost in all departments within the automotive facility.
Monitor safety, quality, cost, and productivity, with improvement activities for assigned areas of production.
Complete projects on schedule and within the annual administrative, operational, and capital budgets.
Provide direction and assistance to analyze production issues, propose countermeasures, and resolve issues.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineer, or relevant 4 year technical degree / work experience.
0-2 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably within the automotive industry or a closely related field.
Experience using AutoCAD to design layout for either manufacturing, warehouse layout, or packaging (REQUIRED).
Prior experience working on projects and collaborating with others (experience can come from internship, coursework, or capstone project).
Material flow experience is desired.
