Resilience Restored Psychotherapy is a small, growing group practice based in Montclair NJ, providing in- person treatment in NJ and virtual teletherapy throughout NJ and NY. Resilience Restored is committed to expanding the reach of Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and other somatically-based, attachment-oriented, trauma-informed approaches to the many people who can benefit from these gentle, yet powerful, empirically-supported approaches and to training clinicians eager to learn this way of helping people heal. The practice was founded and is directed by Dr. Eileen M. Russell, who is a senior and founding faculty member of the AEDP Institute, teaches for the Integrated Trauma Program at the National Institute of the Psychotherapies (NIP), practices Focusing and EMDR, and has taught and trained licensed mental health professionals for twenty years. She is also author of the book Restoring Resilience: Discovering Your Clients' Capacity for Healing (W.W. Norton & Co., 2015), a book for professionals about resilience and AEDP.
Role Description
This is a full-time (part-time is also possible) hybrid role for a Psychology Postdoctoral Associate and involves seeing individuals and couples. The practice is mostly focused on adult patients, but is open to hiring a clinician with experience working with children and adolescents. The postdoctoral associate will screen potential patients, conduct intake sessions, assess and diagnose when appropriate, provide psychotherapy, videotape sessions of patients who are willing to be taped in for supervisory purposes, complete notes in a timely manner, keep an accurate calendar for billing purposes, participate in individual and/or group supervision, do assigned clinical readings or viewing of training tapes. The candidates are expected to be warm and caring individuals who desire to make a real difference in patients' lives while maintaining professional boundaries and adhering to the psychologists' ethical code.
Qualifications
Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Counseling or Clinical Psychology
Completion of an APA-approved pre-doctoral internship in psychology
Excellent clinical, communication and interpersonal skills
Obtain NY or NJ (or both) permit(s) after graduation
Cover letter, 2 letters of recommendation by faculty or clinical supervisors, CV/ resume
Some training in experiential/psychodynamic approaches preferred
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
