Founded in 1966, UPROSE is an intergenerational, BIWOC-led, internationally recognized community organization working at the intersection of racial justice and climate change through community-based planning and research, policy advocacy, popular education, organizing, artistic expression, and youth leadership development.
The Green Resilience Industrial District (GRID) is UPROSE's transformational community-led Just Transition plan that seeks to operationalize a Just Transition in Sunset Park through the "green reindustrialization" of its waterfront. UPROSE is working to secure resources to comprehensively implement the GRID through 7 defined strategies. The GRID Project Director will directly manage the implementation of this grant and its seven funded GRID strategies. The strategies include Small business decarbonization; Microgrid strategies and planning; Decarbonization supply chain cultivation plan; Community-labor cooperation on clean energy economy employment and union membership; Senior Center decarbonization pilot; GRID Special Zoning District adoption; and a GRID Transportation Study.
This is a full-time position with a complete and fully employer-funded benefits package. UPROSE is looking for someone who can work in-person full-time Monday-Friday in our Sunset Park, Brooklyn office. Candidates must be able to work in a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and occasional travel.

Responsibilities:
Directly manage the implementation of the EPA CCG grant program, including the seven funded strategies, in coordination with the Executive Director and Deputy Director.
Coordinate seven cross-sectoral project teams, aligned with the seven funded strategies.
Manage the grant in a manner consistent with our Collaborative Governance Plan, the Partnership Agreement, and principles of collaboration.
Co-Coordinate EPA CCG community engagement activities as outlined in the Community Engagement Plan.
Supervise UPROSE staff hired to EPA CCG projects, as assigned.
Work collaboratively with all parts of UPROSE to both effectively implement the project and do so in alignment with the rest of UPROSE's work and program.
Support the Executive Director and other staff to develop other innovative GRID implementation strategies and action plans to achieve them.
Collaborate with UPROSE staff and strategic partners assigned to work on aspects of wider GRID implementation.
Represent the organization at meetings with partners and stakeholders and on coalition calls.
Contribute to grant-writing as needed.
Other tasks the Executive Director may assign.
Report directly to the Executive Director.
Job requirements:
Demonstrated commitment to working for environmental, social, and climate justice.
Minimum of 10 years professional experience relevant to community organizing, community planning, community engagement, and coalition building.
Demonstrated project management abilities on large scale, complex projects.
Substantive experience with federal and state funding contracts and all their requirements.
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team-setting.
Outstanding personal organization, time management, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask.
Knowledge of basic computer applications, such as Microsoft, Google, and Adobe applications.
Excellent written/oral communications skills and comfortable giving public presentations.
Good sense of humor.
Preferred requirements:
Experience working with diverse project partners in public, private, and non-profit sectors
Understanding of planning/economic development in New York City
Understanding of the emerging clean energy economy
Bilingual proficiency preferred
Salary is based on experience: $100,000
