Responsible for the overall operation of the fabrication shop, production activities, and quality. The position is responsible for directing, coordinating and controlling all aspects of this shop location and its staff while demonstrating the primary goal of efficiently providing quality steel fabrication services that exceed customer expectations.
Primary Responsibilities
Fabrication Management
Develop and manage budget for shop operations, ensure proper staffing and ensure shops are properly furnished with well-maintained equipment.
Responsible for ensuring Cleburne's portion of the master production schedule is updated and accurate at all times.
Ensure the development of a strategic plan for each project to ensure safe, timely, quality, and profitable projects.
Coordinate shop efforts of procuring supplies, tools and equipment.
Ensure that long lead buyout items are procured timely.
Review manpower, equipment, and project reports for costs & schedule; allocate resources; review progress; make mid-course corrections and or changes as needed.
Ensure that industry standards (AISC, AWS, SSPC, etc.) are maintained and understood by all appropriate employees.
Leadership / Training
Develop shop supervisors and foreman as effective managers.
Ensure continual quality improvement training programs are instituted; welding, fitting, print reading, clean/paint training, material handling/loading.
Set example (by word and deed) for the core values and ethics established by the President and Chief Executive
Safety
Responsible for training and development of shop operations personnel and ensuring that appropriate personnel are trained for equipment operations (e.g., hoisting, rigging, forklift, man lift, etc.)
Responsible for shop safety compliance and safety training.
Ensure all appropriate PPE is provided and utilized.
Ensure that any accidents or near missed are documented per company safety policy.
Documentation/Communication
Ensure all shop reporting and scheduling is accurate, up-to-date, and relevant.
Ensure timely written and verbal correspondence with all appropriate team members and clients on shop scheduling, shipping, and drawing information.
Ensure QA tracking and production status is being logged in Tekla EPM Go.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+10 Years Fabrication/Personnel Management
Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Demonstrated mechanical, mathematical and spatial visualization ability
Knowledge of fabrication equipment capabilities and maintenance standards
Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision
Able read design, fab, and erection drawings.
Capable of being amidst the exposure to typical shop physical hazards which may require eye, foot and hand protection
