Oversee and manage all accounting functions within the logistics operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements.
Prepare, analyze, and present financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to support operational and strategic decision-making.
Maintain and reconcile all balance sheet accounts, including detailed schedules for key accounts such as prepaids, accruals, and fixed assets.
Develop and maintain cost accounting practices specific to logistics, including tracking transportation and warehousing costs, labor, and overhead.
Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS.
Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for logistics operations, such as transportation costs, warehousing costs, and asset utilization.
Oversee the budget and forecasting process, analyzing variances, and providing insights to improve financial performance.
Manage cash flow, monitor working capital, and oversee credit and collections to ensure liquidity and financial stability.
Review and approve expense reports, invoices, and capital expenditures, ensuring proper classification and compliance.
Coordinate and support annual audits, preparing schedules and documentation, and ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to provide financial guidance on key initiatives, cost reduction efforts, and process improvements.
Prepare regulatory filings and ensure compliance with relevant tax and regulatory requirements.
Lead or participate in special projects aimed at improving operational efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing internal controls.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CMA designation preferred.
Proven experience in a controller role within the logistics, transportation, or supply chain industry.
Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and logistics-related financial metrics.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems, preferably in a logistics setting.
Thorough understanding of GAAP/IFRS and regulatory compliance.
