This position in Actuarial Solutions blends traditional actuarial (reinsurance) pricing with a developing the tools used by actuaries and underwriters, globally. By using the pricing tools we develop, Actuarial Solutions team members better appreciate the strengths of our pricing tools, as well as the opportunities for improvement.
While balancing pricing and development throughout the year, Solutions team members typically provide the most pricing capacity during renewal season. Until then, we engage in weekly sprints to achieve our highest priorities and get our tools into the hands of stakeholders ASAP.
The skill set of a Solutions member also means we're called upon to provide support beyond reinsurance pricing, assisting with the creation of reports, and developing systems for optimal data gathering. Furthermore, Solutions members can engage in "20% projects," where they can spend one day/week working on a project they expect will add value, even though no one explicitly asked for it to be developed.
Everest Reinsurance is looking for a Senior Actuary Analyst/Developer to join the Actuarial Solutions team.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Pricing reinsurance contracts using Everest pricing tools
Developing and debugging Excel files, as well as VBA, SQL, and Python code
Participation in sprint planning, sprint retrospective, sprint review, and daily stand-up meetings
Participation in pair programming sessions, code reviews, and general sharing of coding knowledge
Periodically assuming the role of "troubleshooter" for the day, to focus on user issues
Work with stakeholders in and out of pricing, including underwriting and risk management
Qualifications, Education & Experience:
1-2 completed actuarial exams
Actively taking CAS exams in pursuit of the Associateship or Fellowship
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
Familiarity with coding. VBA, SQL, and Python are preferred
Knowledge of actuarial and reinsurance pricing theory
Ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders
