Position Summary
:

The

Director
,
Indirect Procurement


for Leica Biosystems
is responsible
for

developing and implementing cost-reducing strategies, ensuring compliance with procurement policies, managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and overseeing procurement activities.
This role
also
monitor
s
market trends,
identif
ies
critical
materials
and services, and support
s
internal stakeholders in their procurement needs.


This position is part of the
Global
Sourcing team

located
in
either
Richmond, Illinois
or Deer Park, Illinois
and will be

onsite
.

implementing innovative strategies and processes to reduce costs, improve quality, and ensure the continuity of supply for goods and services.

In this role, you will have the
opportunity
to:



  • Provide leadership and direction for the
    Indirect Procurement
    team related to all aspects of procurement and develop key strategies to support future business success
    ,
    ,
    actively
    participating
    in decision-making, negotiations, and implementations.





  • Support and guide
    a team of procurement professionals
    and People Leaders
    in executing procurement processes,
    monitoring
    supply markets, and
    identifying
    critical materials and services to support company strategies.





  • Develop and implemen
    t
    indirect

    cost-saving strategies
    to achieve
    cost
    savings objectives
    through creative procurement strategies, vendor selection, and favorable contract agreements
    ,
    ensuring compliance with procurement policies, and managing sourcing processes.





  • Persuade managers and leaders to
    take action

    at all levels of the organization
    cross-functionally
    , including
    building and
    maintaining
    strong
    strategic
    relationships,
    gaining buy i
    n from key stakeholder
    s
    ,
    and negotiat
    ing
    with
    internal and
    external partners/vendors/customers
    .





  • Collaborate
    with the legal team to lead complex contract negotiations and ensure compliance.





  • Oversee
    sustainable and measurable corporate purchasing programs and monitoring adherence to budgets.





  • S
    et departmental priorities and
    allocates
    resources to align with business
    objectives
    and annual plan




The essential requirements of the job include:




  • Bachelor's

    degree in relevant areas such as supply chain, business management, operations, or finance
    ;

    MBA or other relevant degree/certification (e.g., CSCMP
    SCPro
    or ISM CPSM) highly desirable





  • Minimum of seven
    years of relevant experience (e.g., sourcing, buying, or procurement)





  • Proven experience managing remote
    teams, global exp preferred.





  • Strong communication
    , financial acumen, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional

    individuals and teams at all levels of the organization
    to create buy in
    from
    relevant
    stakeholders
    and influence key decisions





  • Strong negotiations, analytical, problem solving, organization, and project management
    skills
    , including the
    a
    bility to collect, analyze, and integrate information by
    leveraging

    appropriate productivity

    tools





  • Experience in contract management and compliance





  • Proven ability to lead
    others to solve complex

    problems which bridge

    multiple products/projects or

    departments






Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:



  • Ability to travel - must be able to travel up to 25
    %
    of the time,
    domestic
    and
    international
    .
    Overnight travel will be required
    .





  • Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
    .





  • Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to 20

    lbs
    .






It would be a plus if you also
possess

previous
experience in:



  • Knowledge of lean tools such as 5S, Standard Work, KANBAN, Policy Deployment, Value Stream Management, Visual Management, SAP etc. 





  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop,
    communicate
    and implement a strategy to ensure compliance to company, regulatory and industry requirements 





  • Supply chain or operations experience in Biotech, Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices or Healthcare industries
