Overview




SUMMARY



Bering Straits Development Company, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking a qualified Front Desk Clerk at the Aurora Inn in Nome, AK. The Front Desk Clerk will be responsible for checking guests in/out, making reservations, keeping the lobby clean at all times, and professionally answering the phone. Other duties may include cleaning the lobby rest room, wiping down tables and counters.

Responsibilities




ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Checking guests in/out
  • Making reservations via phone/walk in/online
  • Keeping work area/lobby/bathroom clean at all times
  • Renting out vehicles to guests/customers who may need them
  • Greet guests in a professional and courteous manner
  • Maintain the security and safety of guests 24 hours a day
  • Completes end of day reports/audits for both Hotel and Vehicle

Required (Minimum) Qualifications


  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic Math skills
  • Customer service
  • People person
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Able to work flexible hours including weekends and nights




Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics


  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of computer systems
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced working environment
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests, co-workers, and management, both orally and in writing




Preferred


  • Knowledge of the reservation system Opera




PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

WORK ENVIRONMENT



Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an


employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.


Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES




  • No supervisory responsibilities.




ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS



As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
