Job Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Database Programmer to work at our contract site in Arlington, VA. The primary objective of this role is to maintain and enhance a critical IT system, ensuring it operates efficiently and securely. The role involves supporting Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse projects, managing resources effectively, and contributing to a transition to a modern, cloud-based infrastructure. The Senior Database Programmer will play a key role in ensuring the system's long-term reliability, scalability, and readiness to meet future challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Analysis and Modeling:
Perform data analysis activities to capture data requirements clearly and accurately.
Create conceptual, logical, and physical data model designs with optimal structure and relationships for performance.
Develop Dimensional Models for the Data Warehouse build-out.
Database Development and Maintenance:
Lead and participate in the development and maintenance of Cyber and IA database systems.
Provide database development resources and support to the development team.
Ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability of database systems.
Technical Oversight:
Review and provide technical solutions across various stages of the development of lifecycle.
Utilize knowledge of Oracle or MS SQL Server DBMS, SQL Language, Unix/Linux, data warehousing, and other technical tools to optimize database performance.
Generate reports and manage job scheduling and monitoring tools.
Documentation and Compliance:
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation using tools like Windows Office, Visio, and CVS.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including DoD requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree (MA/MS) with 10 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) with 12 years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated experience leading database programming and data warehouse administration projects with comparable size and complexity.
Advanced Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server certification required.
Expertise in Oracle or MS SQL Server DBMS, SQL Language, Unix/Linux (including shell commands), data warehousing, report generation, XML, HTML, and open-source development.
Certified as Technical Level III as defined by DoDI 8570.
Active Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Specialized experience with large-scale DoD data conversion projects.
Experience with low-code environments and updating large-scale projects within the Department of Defense.
Physical and Mental Qualifications:
Be able to maintain awareness during scheduled working hours.
Prolonged periods sitting or standing at desk and working on a computer (mouse and keyboard)
Able to lift up to 15 pounds.
Excellent verbal and written communication; good command of the English language
