Terms of Employment • W2 Contract-to-Hire, 6 Months • Initially, this individual should be comfortable working onsite once per week in Reston, VA. Once settled in, this individual can work remotely - with in-person events roughly once per quarter.
Overview & Responsibilities • The Automation Test Engineer - Production Support will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and performance of the production environment for a suite of Java-based applications and web services. This role involves conducting both manual and automated testing, maintaining automation scripts, and supporting ongoing release activities. The Engineer will collaborate closely with the Quality Assurance (QA) team, focusing on performance testing and troubleshooting to prevent production issues.
Key responsibilities include: • Developing and executing test automation scripts, primarily using Jenkins and Selenium • Managing and running early-morning Jenkins jobs to verify system uptime and identify potential issues • Troubleshooting and fixing automation scripts and code to resolve failures in Jenkins jobs • Coordinating with developers to resolve issues identified during testing to prevent production impact • Actively participating in Sunday morning release activities, ensuring system readiness for business operations • Supporting and maintaining over 50 web services, performing regular system maintenance checks • Working closely with the QA team to conduct performance testing and address any performance-related issues
Required Skills & Experience • 5+ years of experience in test automation and manual testing • Proficiency in writing and troubleshooting Jenkins scripts for automation tasks • Strong experience in supporting Java-based applications and web services • Familiarity with Selenium for test automation • Proven ability to review and troubleshoot Jenkins job failures, collaborating with developers to fix issues • Experience with production support and operations testing environments • Availability for monthly Sunday morning release activities to ensure successful system rollouts and readiness
