About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to join our growing team at a leading homebuilder in Charlotte, NC. This role is critical to the success of our construction projects, ensuring the procurement of high-quality materials and services at competitive pricing while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
As a Senior Purchasing Specialist, you will work closely with project managers, vendors, and subcontractors to manage the entire purchasing process. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage procurement strategies for materials, equipment, and services to support residential construction projects.
Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with vendors and subcontractors to achieve optimal value.
Evaluate and select reliable suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with quality standards and project timelines.
Monitor market trends and analyze pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Collaborate with project managers and design teams to forecast material needs and ensure timely delivery.
Maintain accurate records of purchasing activities, supplier performance, and cost analyses.
Address and resolve any supply chain or vendor-related issues promptly to avoid project delays.
Ensure all procurement activities align with company policies, budget requirements, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience in homebuilding, residential construction, or a related industry.
Proven track record of managing budgets, negotiating contracts, and fostering supplier relationships.
Strong understanding of construction materials, industry standards, and local market dynamics.
Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, on-site environment.
