Position Summary
The Director of Supply Chain will lead and optimize Cappello's operations, ensuring seamless sourcing, manufacturing, distribution, and inventory management. This individual will be responsible for driving strategic initiatives to enhance efficiency, minimize costs, and ensure exceptional product availability, aligning with Cappello's commitment to quality.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Responsibilities:
Meet / exceed budgetary expectations of COGS standards, Manufacturing Margins, and Warehousing & Distribution Expenses
Supply Chain Strategy & Optimization:
Optimize processes and procedures of the Supply Chain & Manufacturing Team, bringing a systems approach to streamlining operations, procedures, analytics and data.
Serve as the resident ERP / MRP champion - driving adoption, use, and optimization of Netsuite and our MRP system and it's alignment with optimal processes and procedures.
Develop and execute the end-to-end supply chain strategy in alignment with the company's growth objectives.
Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements to reduce costs and enhance overall efficiency.
Manufacturing:
Responsibility for managing the internal and external manufacturing schedules.
Work with the Director of Manufacturing and Plant Managers to overcome manufacturing, staffing and environmental obstacles to ensure supply and prevent lost time.
Vendor & Supplier Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and co-manufacturers to ensure consistent quality and timely delivery of ingredients and products.
Evaluate and negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and alignment with sustainability goals.
Identify single source & high risk ingredients and suppliers and build redundancies and contingency plans to ensure supply at a competitive price.
Inventory & Logistics Management:
Oversee inventory levels to balance demand forecasting with production capabilities and minimize waste.
Manage logistics and transportation partners to ensure timely delivery while optimizing costs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with Product Development, Operations, Sales, and Marketing teams to align supply chain strategies with business goals.
Partner with Quality Dept to ensure regulatory compliance and food safety / quality
Collaborate with finance to manage budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting related to supply chain activities.
Work with IT support and contractors to ensure adequate support of systems, plants, and engineering
Team Leadership & Development:
This role will be a Leadership Team Member and reports to the CEO
This role will have 2-4 direct reports in operations, supply chain and logistics, including possible contractors or agencies
Lead and mentor the supply chain team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
8+ years of progressive experience in supply chain management, preferably within the natural foods or CPG industry.
Proven leadership experience with a track record of driving operational excellence.
Strong knowledge of supply chain software and tools (Netsuite preferred).
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
A passion for sustainability and innovation in the food industry is a plus.
