The regulatory scientist serves and assists as a regulatory and technical compliance consultant for Kerry's internal Brands business by helping to interpret and evaluate regulations, industry standards and customer requirements. This position assists in driving customer and business solutions in support of commercialization and related processes; assists in completing the execution of compliance work; and helps lead EUM or SEUM manager and team to successful delivery of outcomes.
Key responsibilities
Regulatory Specialist & SME: Provide technical and regulatory guidance; develop regulatory strategies with manager and director; manage projects with external consultants.
Customer & Business Support: Support internal stakeholders by interpreting regulations, supplying information, and maintaining product information databases.
Product Commercialization: Expert in product positioning and labeling; review and approve labels, specifications, claims; participate in innovation meetings.
Risk Analysis & Approval: Evaluate ingredient documentation, raw materials, labels, products, claims; make proactive risk-based decisions.
External Thought Leadership: Participate in conferences and trade associations; understand and inform business on regulatory impacts; apply industry best practices.
Process Implementation & Optimization: Develop and implement new processes; deliver training and presentations; design updated processes.
Customer Support: Support sales and GBS requests; serve as secondary resource for non-routine information.
System Administration: Review and update specifications using Kerry systems; maintain product lifecycle management.
Cross-Functional Acumen: Understand regulatory excellence across product lifecycle and key business stakeholders.
Professional Expertise: Maintain knowledge of food regulations; cross-train with others; communicate effectively.
Customer, Supplier & Third-Party Relationships: Partner with sales and RDA; build customer relationships; provide updates on requests and projects.
Qualifications and skills • Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Nutrition, or other related science discipline or 3-6 years experience (education & work combined) in a similar regulatory role • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal including ability to partner with leaders to prepare executive business presentations, communicate strategies, and briefings for Regulatory and other business partners. • Experience in retail labeling is highly desired. • Team player, collaborative and positive, with a strong customer service and business mindset; exceptional time management and organizational skills, self-starter with a high level of detail, initiative, assertiveness, and adaptability • Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, as well as understanding of basic project management principles. • Willingness to work flexible hours and ability to travel as required.
