About the Role
As the Development Associate, you will report to a Development Director in all aspects of the affordable multifamily development process, executing on an existing pipeline of projects, as well as evaluating new opportunities. In this position, your primary tasks involve project management of various development processes such as: entitlement, site due diligence, design management, risk assessment, permitting. Successful execution of this role involves coordinating with city officials, architects, zoning attorneys, engineers, and other professionals to ensure timely delivery of projects.
Responsibilities
Perform initial due diligence of assigned projects to include zoning and code review, title work review, and project risk assessment.
Execute timeline and cost schedules for all required due diligence items as established by the Director of Development.
Assist in preparation of LIHTC applications necessary to secure funding for affordable housing.
Represent the owner in ongoing construction meetings, oversee construction timelines and costs.
Act as contact for all individual project entitlement and approval efforts.
Assist legal counsel in reviewing and resolving title and survey issues.
Ascertain utility availabilities and connection fees, and costs of necessary improvements.
Coordinate with design professionals in the completion of necessary deliverables from initial conceptual layouts to construction drawings and specifications.
Represent the company at public hearings and meetings with adjacent neighborhood representatives, utilities, regulatory agents, consultants, city officials, etc.
Secure all necessary permits and/or approvals in accordance with the project schedule.
Provide efficient turnover of the project to all applicable departments.
Travel to project sites as necessary to execute duties and responsibilities herein.
Process and organize draw requisitions and invoice remittances.
Qualifications
Minimum 4-year bachelor's degree in finance, urban planning, engineering, construction, or related field.
Minimum 2-5 years of experience in real estate development; construction; or engineering.
Previous experience in development or affordable housing is preferred but not required.
Advanced computer skills, including MS Office Suite, project management tracking, and scheduling software.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
