We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Traveling Mechanical Construction Project Manager to oversee and manage mechanical construction projects across multiple locations. This role requires an experienced leader who is comfortable working in diverse environments, managing complex HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems, and ensuring successful project delivery on time and within budget. Frequent travel to job sites nationwide is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution:
Oversee all phases of mechanical construction projects, including planning, execution, and closeout.
Develop project schedules, budgets, and work plans in collaboration with clients, engineers, and subcontractors.
Ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
On-Site Leadership:
Travel to project sites to manage on-site activities, including subcontractor coordination and field team oversight.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and stakeholders at each project location.
Address and resolve project challenges, including technical issues and schedule adjustments.
Budget & Cost Control:
Monitor project budgets and costs, ensuring financial performance aligns with company objectives.
Manage change orders, procurement, and cost-saving initiatives.
Team Coordination:
Collaborate with field supervisors, foremen, and tradespeople to achieve project milestones.
Lead regular meetings with on-site teams to communicate project goals and progress.
Compliance & Safety:
Enforce OSHA standards and company safety policies at all job sites.
Conduct site inspections to ensure safety compliance and address any concerns promptly.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain detailed project records, including schedules, budgets, and progress reports.
Provide regular updates to senior management on project status, challenges, and achievements.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Project Manager in mechanical construction, with a strong focus on HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
Proven ability to manage projects across multiple locations or in a traveling capacity.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC ductwork, hydronics, and plumbing systems.
Familiarity with mechanical drawings, specifications, and codes.
Skills:
Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to work effectively with diverse teams and clients.
Proficient in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam) and scheduling tools (e.g., Microsoft Project).
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
Certifications:
OSHA 30 Certification required.
First Aid/CPR Certification preferred.
PMP Certification or other project management certifications are a plus.
Travel Requirements:
Willingness to travel extensively (up to 75%) to job sites across the country.
Ability to stay on-site for extended periods as project needs dictate.
