We developed a custom internal application leveraging Salesforce and AWS for a very large organization. We work with other vendors to constantly improve and enhance features. The BI Engineer that gets hired will work with the existing team members who have been on the project for years. Please see responsibility and qualifications for more details.
The person we hire can be a project-based employee or contractor but mostly we hire resources as full-time employees to do consulting work. i.e. We are not a staffing company. The client and work are in Bellevue, WA.
The BI Engineer will work with large datasets and distributed computing technologies. This role will be creating and optimizing table structures, identifying KPIs that drive the business, generating reports for those KPIs that are consumed across the Key for Business organization, analyzing data to inform strategic and tactical initiatives, and writing up the findings from analyses for less-technical audiences. Strong SQL (any implementation) is a must. Scripting skills, and background in operations is extremely valuable. This is a highly visible role that partners with business, product management, operations, and the technical team.
Responsibilities
Enable decision-making by retrieving and aggregating data from multiple sources to present in a digestible and actionable format
Work with product teams to identify gaps and trends in existing reporting
Analyze large data sets using a variety of database query and visualization tools
Provide technical expertise in extracting, integrating, and analyzing critical data
Design and develop key performance metrics and indicators using standardized and custom reports
Perform ad hoc analysis to quickly solve time sensitive operational issues and business cases
Work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to improve current data & analytics processes and develop new capabilities
Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and decisions.
Contribute to the design, implementation, and delivery of BI solutions for complex and ambiguous problems
Conduct deep dive analyses of business problem statements and formulate conclusions and recommendations to leadership
Identify opportunities and key criteria to drive analytical reporting and business strategy
Develop and drive best practices in data integrity, consistency, analysis, validations, and documentation
Minimum Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field;
Experience with SQL/Python/VBA;
Power user with Tableau/PowerBI or other BI tools;
Proficiency in MS Excel;
Fluency in SQL
Experience in building relational databases, reporting/BI platforms or leveraging statistics for data analytics;
Experience in modern data warehousing techniques (dimensional data modeling, experience with ETL, etc.);
Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
Strong team player and the ability to work in a diverse environment with people in various locations;
Impeccable attention to detail, passion for processes, systems and data mining;
Excellent listener, quick learner, and able to handle ambiguity;
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in an understandable way.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
AWS Certification: AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Data Analytics Specialty.
Experience with BI tools like Tableau or Power BI.
Expertise in data visualization principles and best practices.
