Role: The Chief of Staff - Strategy
The Chief of Staff - Strategy is a critical leadership role, serving as a trusted advisor, strategic partner, and operational leader to the CEO. This individual will manage cross-functional strategic initiatives, provide executive-level support, and ensure alignment with organizational priorities. The ideal candidate will have exceptional organizational, communication, and analytical skills, with the ability to navigate complex projects and build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Initiatives and Project Management
Serve as a thought partner to the CEO, helping to define priorities, identify organization-wide strategic initiatives, and monitor progress to ensure alignment with company objectives.
Facilitate executive decision-making by gathering data, preparing reports, and delivering actionable insights.
Initiate and launch programs and projects, transition them to appropriate owners and ensure timely
Monitor progress to ensure they achieve the intended strategic impacts
Develop and implement strategic plans and partner with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve organizational efficiency.
Oversee key organizational metrics and provide regular updates to the CEO.
Proactively identify and manage potential issues and risks on strategic initiatives, projects, outgoing communications, and agenda items of the CEO
Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership on the status and impact of strategic initiatives
Ability to exercise sound decision-making, sometimes on behalf of the CEO
Administration & Communications
Ensuring coordination and organizational effectiveness by prioritizing, scheduling, and managing key internal and external meetings and agendas
Collaborate closely with senior leadership to support the workflows of the organization's Executive Team
Representing the organization at meetings and events, capturing key takeaways to ensure the CEO is up to date on needed follow up actions
Working with the CEO to schedule and coordinate senior leadership team and all-staff meetings and their corresponding agendas
Providing additional capacity to the CEO and Executive Team on a variety of levels, including the management and execution of virtual and in-person events
Board Relations
Serving as a key liaison and point of contact to the Board of Trustees
Planning and scheduling the organization's quarterly board meetings
Organizing quarterly board materials; assembling and distributing a Board packet and corresponding communications pre- and post-meetings
Requirements:
7+ years of experience in strategic, operational, or leadership roles, ideally in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
Proven success in project management, strategic planning, execution, and cross-functional collaboration.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex projects, teams, and multiple timelines.
Superb written, verbal, and presentation skills; demonstrated ability to build productive relationships.
High emotional intelligence, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information.
Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; PMP, CSSBB, PMI-ACP, PMI-PBA, or PMI-RMP certifications highly valued.
Detail-oriented, dependable, and proactive team player, comfortable in fast-paced environments.
