Job Summary



The Stigler Center for the Study of the Economy and the State is looking for highly skilled and motivated individuals to work as full-time Research Professionals starting in the 2025-2026 academic year. Research Professionals work with the Stigler Center Faculty Director and other affiliated faculty to collect and manage data, maintain databases, conduct statistical analyses and provide other key research support associated with faculty research and teaching.


This position is expected to last one year with the possibility of a second.



Responsibilities



  • Collects data, conducts complex statistical analysis, writes statistical software programs, and organizes the presentation of results.

  • Assists with writing, editing, and preparation of working papers, citations, literature reviews, and other documents.

  • Creates charts, tables, and descriptive text for the Stigler Center Faculty Director, the Stigler Center publication ProMarket, and other Booth faculty.

  • Maintains databases, reviews background materials, and performs preliminary research.

  • Coordinates research tasks with research assistants and interns.

  • Staffs and supports Stigler Center conferences, programs, and other activities.

  • Assists in preparation of teaching material and course packets.

  • Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.

  • Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.

  • Performs other related work as needed.




Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications




Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in economics or a related quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, finance, or computer science.




Experience:



  • At least one year of research or other directly related experience.




Technical Skills or Knowledge:



  • Work with statistical software and programming languages such as STATA, R, and Python.

  • Creating reproducible, well-documented projects and managing advanced codebases.

  • Training in economics through the intermediate theory level.

  • Training in econometrics or mathematical statistics.

  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Work independently as well as with others and meet deadlines under pressure.

  • Problem-solving skills and eagerness to take on challenges.




Working Conditions



  • This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.
