AM/NS Calvert seeks Materials Engineers responsible for metallurgical grading, testing, and product development for employer's Steelmaking or Refining operations segments. Also responsible for continuous improvement of production processes for quality and safety. Daily duties include: root cause analysis and troubleshooting for metallurgical/materials engineering issues affecting Steelmaking or Refining; assure the safety and environmental compliance of the EAF/Steelmaking or Refining operation; generate continuous improvement for Safety and Environmental best practices; support process improvement initiatives through analysis and development/monitoring of KPIs; support Lab analysis, cleanliness studies, grade trials, and other new grade launch activities; conduct training as needed for process improvements, grading and quality analysis, and other technical issues affecting EAF/Steelmaking or Refining. Must have Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgical, Materials, or Mechanical Engineering or closely related field (foreign equivalent accepted). Must have two years of experience in Metallurgical Engineering. Employer will accept direct employment experience in steel industry or research experience related to steel manufacturing.
