Position Objective: Provide services as a Quality Assurance Specialist in support of the overall functions of the Vaccine Immunology Program within the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Follow approved SOPs and GCLP guidelines to complete commonly required laboratory maintenance.
Assist in creating program and laboratory specific inventories to ensure supplies are ordered in a timely manner, par levels maintained and stored appropriately.
Help coordinate efforts within all components of the program in pooling and sharing of equipment and service resources.
Assist in the development of systems to help optimize administrative services and deal with structural problems.
Adjust quickly to changes in schedule as organizational goals and projects shift.
Perform equipment audits to ensure preventative maintenance has been completed and assist in placing documentation in the appropriate equipment folders.
Assist in onboarding and decommissioning of equipment.
Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in a BSL-2 laboratory.
Work collaboratively with team members to complete all tasks for the day, but also be accountable as an individual for personal tasks.
Assist in maintaining training records.
Utilize and maintain various laboratory equipment such as Biological Safety Cabinet (BSC),centrifuge, pipettes, liquid nitrogen tank, and others.
Write and revise SOPs within VIP's electronic database.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science with 1+ years of experience in a BSL-2 laboratory is required.
Quickly can learn to utilize LIMS, MasterControl (CQMS), MS Office or IT Skills such that candidate knows.
Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred: Experience in GCLP environment and IATA Infectious substance A and B shipping certification.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with non-technical and technical staff.
Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects
