Department Summary The Data Product team is one of the verticals within the newly established Chief Data Office (CDO), part of T. Rowe Price's Chief Operating Office (COO).? The team is responsible for establishing and leading the firm-wide data product strategy and framework across all aspects of T. Rowe Price's business. Additionally, the team is accountable for delivery and ownership of multiple foundational data products used across the firm.? Data Products are a key pillar of the firm's overall Data strategy and the team is on the front lines of bringing this strategy to life with business users and data consumer across the enterprise.
Role Summary As a Data Product Owner, you will be accountable and responsible for leading the development and implementation of the mission-critical data products and solutions that drive value for our firm. You will lead cross-functional teams including data consumers, data engineers, software developers, and business analysts to define product vision, prioritize features, and drive product development from ideation through delivery and ongoing product management along the product lifecycle. This role requires a deep understanding of data, product management experience, and excellent communication skills to effectively lead and collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Product Vision - Define and communicate the vision, goals, and objectives for one or more data products in alignment with overall data strategy and data product framework.
Product Roadmap - Develop and maintain a prioritized roadmap for one or more data products development, considering customer needs and business priorities.
Requirements Management - Gather, prioritize, and manage product requirements from stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business goals, capacity, and technical feasibility.
Cross-functional Collaboration - Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders across the firm to drive product development from concept through launch and continuing operations.
User Experience - Champion user-centric design principles and ensure that data products meet user needs and deliver an exceptional user experience that enables consumer adoption of data products.
Quality Assurance - Define acceptance criteria and standards for data product quality, working closely with Data Governance and Data Platform teams to ensure products meet quality and architecture standards.
Release Management - Coordinate release planning and execution, working with product development and consumer enablement teams to deliver features on time and within scope that deliver business value.
Performance Monitoring - Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the success of data products, continuously monitor performance, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Stakeholder Communication - Communicate product updates, milestones, and challenges to stakeholders at all levels of the organization, ensuring transparency and alignment.
Risk Management - Identify potential risks and dependencies, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively address issues to ensure successful product delivery.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree, Master's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience?
8+ years of overall relevant experience, ideally in the Asset Management or related industry?
Proven experience?in a data product or data management related role
Strong understanding of data concepts including data governance, operations, modeling, architecture and other data related principles
Experience with modern data management and governance tools including data modeling, metadata management and data catalog/marketplace.
Experience working with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage competing demands and tasks in a demanding environment.
Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
A thorough understanding of data governance principles, frameworks and methodologies, and experience applying them in the real world all stages of the data lifecycle.??
Execution excellence and a track record of delivering long term business value??
Preferred
Experience with Securities Master management, Accounting/Investments Books of Record (ABOR/IBOR), or other related asset management systems of record.
Experience or understanding of with market data instruments, identifiers, and providers (e.g. Bloomberg, ICE, FactSet)
Experience or understanding of Master Data Management (MDM) concepts and practices.
FINRA Requirements FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.
Work Flexibility This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to two days per week from home.
Base Salary Ranges $146,000.00 - $248,000.00 for the location of: California, New York
$128,000.00 - $219,500.00 for the location of: Washington, D.C
$116,500.00 - $199,000.00 for the location of: Colorado, Maryland, Washington and all other US locations
Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual's relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
