Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) are responsible for assisting residents with daily activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, meals, and mobility. They monitor and promptly report any changes in residents' conditions to supervisors, ensuring all needs are met in a timely manner, including responding to call lights and performing regular check-ins. CNAs also provide restorative and rehabilitative care as instructed, while maintaining cleanliness in residents' rooms and with their personal belongings. Accurate documentation is essential, as CNAs must record data such as vital signs, food and fluid intake, and care provided, as well as report any accidents, incidents, or unauthorized access attempts. They are expected to comply with confidentiality policies and promptly report any violations.

Safety and compliance are key aspects of this role, requiring adherence to protocols for infection control, exposure to bodily fluids, and proper use of medical equipment. CNAs must report hazards, defective equipment, or safety concerns and assist in emergencies, including evacuations when necessary. Collaboration and communication are also vital, as CNAs participate in shift handovers, team meetings, and care plan discussions while fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for residents and their families. They must notify supervisors of any complaints, grievances, or refusals of treatment from residents.

Additionally, CNAs assist with resident admissions and discharges, including preparing rooms, orienting new residents, helping with packing, and transporting residents during room transfers or discharges. To qualify for this role, candidates must be licensed CNAs within the state, with CPR certification preferred. They should possess strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills and be able to handle physical demands, including lifting up to 25 pounds and prolonged standing or walking.

The work environment involves frequent standing, walking, and occasional lifting. CNAs may encounter infectious diseases, bodily fluids, and hazardous materials, making strict adherence to safety protocols essential.
