Description:


The Department of Ophthalmology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Instructor position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). US Citizens or Permanent Residents with a research or clinical doctoral degree are eligible to apply. Applicants must be eligible for an unrestricted Pennsylvania license to practice medicine.


Responsibilities may include patient care, seeing research patients, or doing bench research.


The successful applicant will have an opportunity to focus on translational clinical research and clinical exposure to the diagnosis and management of genetic eye diseases at the Retinal Degeneration Centers of the Scheie Eye Institute and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.


This position is supported by a K12 grant from the NIH/NEI. The candidate will be assessed by the K12 Program of the Department of Ophthalmology of the University of Pennsylvania. The recipient will receive salary and benefits at the Instructor level.  Senior residents, subspecialty fellows, and practicing ophthalmologists interested in developing a career in academic medicine encouraged to apply.
