Job Summary



The Office of the Dean of Students in the College has broad responsibility for the success of all College students. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Retention, the Coordinator for Student Support Services will play a crucial role in supporting students on delayed graduation timelines through data analysis and individual support.

The Coordinator for Student Retention and Support is responsible for supporting the Assistant Director of Student Retention in the development and execution of retention strategies. The primary focus is on providing individualized support to students who are at risk of delayed graduation. This role involves data analysis, coordination with various University offices, and direct student support to improve time-to-degree completion.



Responsibilities



  • Provides individualized support to students on delayed graduation timelines.

  • Communicates regularly with students, connecting them to campus resources to help them stay on track.

  • Assists in onboarding students resuming studies after a leave of absence in collaboration with academic advisers and various offices and campus partners.

  • Serves as a contact for students on inactive status, maintaining regular communication and support.

  • Assists in analyzing current data to identify at-risk students and develop predictive models for early intervention.

  • Supports the evaluation of current retention efforts and helps in creating comprehensive retention plans.

  • Tracks and reviews student records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information for analysis.

  • Collaborates with various university offices, including College Academic Advising Office, Office of College Community Standards, and College Center for Student Success, to promote student success.

  • Supports the implementation of development programs for students served by Campus and Student Life (CSL) and College Center for Student Success (CCSS).

  • Participates in the development of trainings, workshops, and initiatives to enhance faculty and staff competencies in supporting students.

  • Updates the Assistant Director of Student Retention and College leadership on the progress of retention strategies.

  • Participates in meetings, committees, and other groups to communicate information regarding services, programs, and other opportunities for student support.

  • Participates in Orientation and Commencement activities each year as part of The College core programs.

  • Conducts regular meetings with students to discuss academic programs, choice of major, academic progress and career goals. Facilitates students' progress towards the degree.

  • Advises students with minor academic difficulties and counseling while responding to queries from faculty, staff and parents.

  • Performs other related work as needed.




Minimum Qualifications




Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Education:



  • Master's degree in a related field strongly preferred.




Experience:



  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in student support services, advising, or related areas. Graduate work may be accepted.

  • Sklled at working with student caseloads, prioritizing tasks, and flexibility.

  • Background with student retention strategies and familiarity with university structures and functions.

  • An understanding of intersectional identities and diverse student needs.




Technical Skills or Knowledge:



  • Knowledge of best practices in student success and retention.

  • Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and discipline-related software.
