Job Summary
The Simulation & Technology Support Specialist provides technical support to faculty and leadership in the Health Sciences and Community Services division, ensuring the efficient operation of simulation technology, equipment, tools, and materials across various programs. This position assists with simulation lab setups, manages simulation technologies, and supports educational events both within and outside the classroom and laboratory settings. The Specialist ensures smooth execution of learning activities, collaborates with the Learning Manager, and maintains the equipment and resources. Strong organizational, technical, and problem-solving skills are essential for supporting student success and faculty-led initiatives.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully with or without reasonable accommodation.
Technical Support for Academic Programs:
Setup, breakdown, and maintain the simulation lab equipment
Prepare and organize instructional materials, manage inventories, and maintain cleanliness and orderliness of spaces.
Acquire, maintain, and distribute simulation materials and resources for faculty and students across health programs, including remote and outlying campus locations.
Provide technology management, maintenance, and support for educational tools such as electronic health records, multimedia resources, and lab equipment used in divisional education programs.
Maintain current knowledge of emerging healthcare simulation education technologies and best practices.
Contribute to ongoing process improvements by developing recommendations for the use of new simulation tools, technology advancements, and streamlined operations for enhanced educational delivery.
Collaborate with the warranty companies to manage the simulation equipment maintenance and repairs.
Resource & Inventory Management:
Assist in the planning, purchasing, and inventory management of necessary supplies and equipment.
Manage acquisition, distribution and maintenance of health-related simulation equipment, supplies and resources for all campus' and educational sites.
Maintain a current list of health-related resources, purchase dates, location, and manage replacement plan
Prepare, organize, and monitor work orders, ensuring timely completion.
Coordinate maintenance or repair schedules for equipment.
Maintain and repair all health-related equipment and ensure proper storage.
Collaborate with Division Leadership:
Collaborate with leadership and program faculty to plan and support student learning activities.
Participate in team meetings to contribute to the planning of curricular activities and departmental initiatives.
Collaborate with program leadership to assemble, position, and maintain equipment and materials used for instruction.
Participate in relevant training and share insights with faculty and staff to improve educational practices.
Offer basic training to faculty on the use of assigned educational technologies.
K12 Activities:
Assist in execution of K12 activities, events, and workshops.
Collaborate with leadership to support community events, tours, and other promotional activities.
Collaborate with team members to ensure the smooth operation and availability of resources for educational events.
Coordinate with instructors and leadership for the setup of major activities and events for both students and external groups, including contractual agreements for facility use or equipment rentals.
Minimum Qualifications Required
In limited circumstances, NTC may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position.
Education: Associate's Degree (or Equivalent)
Experience: 2 Years
Additional Experience Information:
A minimum of two years of Healthcare related experience with one year post-secondary education.
Additional appropriate experience will be considered as an equivalent to one year of post-secondary education.
This position must demonstrate the ability to assume responsibility without direct supervision, exercise initiative and judgment and make decisions within the scope of authority.
Must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills.
