The Pipeline & Analytics Excellence team plays a critical role in partnering with the Commercial Strategy and Innovation (CSI) organization to provide insights that guide pipeline program strategy, stewardship, and investment cases across Pfizer. Members of the Pipeline Analytics team function as internal consultants to CSI disease area teams, bringing primary market research, real world data analyses, and strategic thought partnership to drive investment decisions.
The Real World Data (RWD) Insights Director will play a pivotal role in establishing and leading the real world data insights capability for pipeline within Pfizer. This role will focus on generating actionable insights to inform strategic decisions regarding Pfizer's pipeline. The successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders to leverage real world data to drive pipeline clinical development decisions. This role is dynamic, fast-paced, and highly collaborative, covering a broad range of strategic topics critical to our pipeline. The successful candidate will join Global Commercial Analytics (GCA) colleagues worldwide who are dedicated to driving business through proactive thought leadership, innovative research capabilities, and the ability to communicate complex and dynamic information in new and creative ways.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Role definition and Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
Real World Data Insights
Provide leadership in real-world data analytics to inform investment decisions of pipeline and business development opportunities
Act as a proactive strategic partner to pipeline strategy teams to frame, investigate, and answer key business questions related to identifying and evaluating commercial/business development strategies using real-world data
Integrate research and analytics to tell a compelling and persuasive story and deliver clear and actionable recommendations to senior leadership
Ensure that investment opportunity analysis is rigorous and based on common and well-supported assumptions
Lead identification of information needs and development of research and data analysis plans, leveraging insights from in-line brands/therapeutic areas as needed
Develop and prioritize next assets by reviewing assets by stage to determine where capability could have the greatest impact
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including Pfizer Data Scientists, Global Commercial Analytics colleagues, and vendor support teams, to drive real-world data insights initiatives
Lead hands-on quantitative research utilizing real-world data sources, including electronic health records, claims data, and patient registries
Conduct analyses in Pfizer analytics workbench environment, including coding and managing outsourced analytic programming support teams
Oversee data preparation, analytics execution, and deliverable creation, supporting insights synthesis, storyboarding, analysis design, and contextualization for the team
Work flexibly and comfortably on multiple therapeutic areas in a matrixed team
Forecasting/ Operating Plan Support
Act as a thought partner to Business Assessment and lead secondary data analytics to inform assumptions for epi-based forecasts
Collaboration with other Analytical teams
Alignment with in-line Integrated Insights & Strategy (IIS) teams to ensure cohesive activities with our stakeholders (e.g., leverage in-line TA insights and optimal insight generation approach through analytic planning)
Leverage other Commercial Analytics groups for the development of best-in-class approaches to real-world data analytics; partner with other analytic team members to advance the integration of market research and real-world data insights
Vendor/Offshore Resource Management
Manage outsource vendor team including offshore component, directing workload in line with priorities, capability building and analysis execution
Manage budgets associated with assigned activities
Be accountable for continuous improvement and identification/utilization of new capabilities to maximize the competitive advantages of the business
QUALIFICATIONS
8+ years' experience in Biopharma, analytics, strategic consulting, business, or related area
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) required. Masters (or equivalent) preferred in a quantitative discipline
Programming Languages: Proficiency in Python and R for data analysis and modeling
Database Management: Knowledge of SQL for querying databases and managing large datasets
Statistical Analysis: Strong understanding of statistical methods and their application in business analytics.
Machine Learning: Familiarity with machine learning techniques and their implementation
Demonstrated success in a highly fast-paced setting
Ability to identify new issues, trends, and opportunities from data
Ability to influence without authority, setting business direction, priorities, and action plans
Demonstrated analytical capabilities and critical thinking sills
Strong project management and organizational skills with cross-functional teams of diverse colleagues

Fluent in English (written and spoken)

Previous epi-forecasting experience with an understanding of complicated methodologies, patient flows, data triangulation to derive assumptions to develop business case, including an understanding of risks and opportunities
Known subject matter expert for quantitative and qualitative market research methodologies
Extensive experience in the design and management of secondary data analytics
Previous demonstrated experience in using innovative techniques to monitor, simulate and analyze complex data sets preferred
Ability to be flexible, prioritize multiple demands, deal with ambiguity, and lead teams through complex and challenging cross-functional projects
Ability to assess and direct vendor technical capabilities and manage risks in the analytic process
Recognized expertise and coach to others on connecting, integrating, and synthesizing analysis into a meaningful 'so what' to drive clear strategic recommendations and enable commercial decision making
Proven ability to act as a strategic partner with the capacity to quickly establish relationships of trust, credibility, and be seen as a driving partner to commercial clients
Ability to identify, prioritize and describe relevant caveats and uncertainties in research, analytic projects, and forecasts, including how they relate to the business question and broader strategic priorities

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $149,200.00 to $248,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
