PhD. Summer Intern- Identity and Biometrics Solutions

Pasadena CA- Hybrid

Position Summary

Thales is looking for a highly motivated PhD student to join our Pasadena R&D team for a 3-Month internship in the field of biometrics, computer vision, and machine learning.

Regulatory Compliance Requirements

Must be a U.S. Person as defined in applicable law, or otherwise authorized or eligible for   authorization, to access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). 

Key Areas of Responsibilities

• Participate in ongoing research projects in biometrics, computer vision and deep learning.
• Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in related area
• Write efficient code using C++ and Python 
• Communicate effectively both in written and spoken
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to project discussions
• Present research results at internal and external meetings

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a PhD program in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related

• Solid knowledge in image processing, computer vision, and machine learning 
• 2+ years of experience in at least one of these areas: object detection & tracking, depth estimation, semantic & instance segmentation, 3D reconstruction, pose estimation, image enhancement and restoration, anti-spoofing
• At least one year of coding experience in C++ and Python
• At least on year of hands-on experience on Tensorflow/ Pytorch
• Prior experience with prototyping and validation of AI solutions

Pay Transparency

The anticipated TTC range for this role is $40-$45 an hour.  The Company reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s status protected by local, state, or federal law.
