Job Description:




The Department of Biological Sciences at Binghamton University (SUNY: State University of New York) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of Behavioral Ecology. The ideal candidate will develop an original research program that addresses fundamental processes that drive and maintain behavioral diversity in vertebrate animals within an ecological context. We encourage candidates whose research seeks to understand how the function, evolution, and underlying mechanisms of animal behavior affect responses to both natural and anthropogenic stressors, with potential areas of specialization including animal communication, diversification of behavioral strategies, sensory or reproductive ecology, and/or bioacoustics. We seek a candidate who is enthusiastic about potential collaborations within the Department of Biological Sciences, departments across campus, and regional and international stakeholders.

Requirements:




The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Biology or a related field as well as relevant postdoctoral experience and will join a diverse biology department with over 30 tenured/tenure-track and teaching faculty members. They will be expected to develop a vigorous, externally funded research program that contributes to our designation as an R1 institution through the training and mentorship of PhD and MS students and will also contribute to the department's teaching mission by instructing both undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of expertise. Relevant teaching experience is preferred.
