Job Summary
The Sales Director - Lawn & Garden will serve as a 'Player / Coach'; developing Sales Territory Managers through commercial excellence best practices, while modeling the way with assigned high-value accounts within an assigned geography. The position will work closely with the Vice President of Sales, the Vice President of Strategic Accounts and Marketing, as well as the Vice President / General Manager of Operations to ensure goal and strategy alignment is achieved throughout the supply chain.
Job Responsibilities
Achieve short and long term revenue goals, with a focus on margin-accretive sales
Develop and implement long term account plans for assigned key accounts
Provide vision, leadership and continuous commercial excellence training to assigned Territory Managers
Coach, Motivate and inspire assigned sales team
Provide continuous, professional feedback to ensure performance expectations are achieved
Institute best practices in performance management, training, account management and sales planning
Live and Lead a culture of Self-Starting, Accountability and Results Oriented behaviors
Advocate internally for the needs of the market and customer
Develop fact-based insights on the external environment (Consumer, Retail & Competition)
Provide executive-quality insights & business recommendations
Develop and continuously enhance strong collaborative partnerships with Operations partners at all levels
Job Requirements
10+ years of account selling, sales management, marketing and business planning experience
Experience in the Lawn & Garden / Building Materials space is a plus
Best of Class sales leader with a successful track record of driving revenue
Demonstrated advanced business & financial acumen & analysis
Experience selling to a highly diversified, fragmented customer base
Experience in selling proprietary labels across various trade / customer channels
Highly organized, disciplined and 'gritty / tough minded' with a strong sense of self
Positive, Energetic, Optimistic and Committed to Winning
Excellent Customer Service and interpersonal skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Valid Driver's License with clean driving record
Overnight travel 50-60%
