Job Description:





We are seeking an Associate to join our Public Sector Municipal Advisory team. Baker Tilly's Municipal Advisory team is one of the nation's largest independent municipal advisory practices and provides objective analysis, planning and creative solutions for many types of projects.



Position Overview:



The Arbitrage Rebate Analyst supports municipal clients by providing detailed analysis and reporting on arbitrage calculations related to tax-exempt bonds. The analyst conducts detailed financial analysis, prepares reports, and offers insights to help clients understand their obligations under IRS arbitrage rules.



Key Responsibilities:






  • Data Analysis: Gather, review, and analyze financial data from bond issuance, investment of bond proceeds, and expenditures on projects. Summarize findings in a clear and comprehensive manner for internal review and client reports.






  • Arbitrage Calculations: Perform complex calculations to determine the arbitrage rebate and yield restriction liabilities for tax-exempt bond issuers.






  • Report Preparation: Prepare detailed reports for clients, summarizing arbitrage findings and potential liabilities.






  • Research and Compliance: Stay current with tax laws and IRS Regulations related to municipal bonds, providing clients with information and guidance to aid in their compliance efforts.






  • Client Communication: Regularly communicate with municipal clients to explain arbitrage rebate and yield restriction requirements, provide updates, and discuss strategies to manage liabilities.




Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics or related field; CPA certification preferred but not mandatory

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage large datasets.

  • Familiarity with municipal bonds, arbitrage rules, and IRS rebate requirements.

  • Proficiency in Excel and Word and financial modeling software.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and client discussions.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organization skills.

  • Effective time management skills to handle multiple projects, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.




Work environment:



  • Office-based role with occasional travel to client locations for meetings.
