BUSINESS UNIT: TERMINALS Kinder Morgan is the largest independent terminal operator in North America, providing a strong, reliable network of 144 terminals serving our customers' storage, distribution, blending and logistical needs. Our terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils and other products. We have a combined liquids storage capacity of approximately 151 million barrels and handle about 59 million tons of dry bulk materials annually. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Understands, enforces, and communicates to others procedures/safety regulations required for bulk material handling operations at Port of Houston Terminal.
Conducts daily safety meetings with crew members.
Ensures all daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly inspections are completed and turned in to be filed. Knowledge of EPA and OSHA requirements and regulations is mandatory.
Records and reports any issues or environmental concerns to the terminal supervisor/manager for resolution.
Submits daily crew turn-over reports at the end of each shift.
Trains subordinates in bulk material safety requirements of Kinder Morgan including but not limited to lock out/tag out, confined space, hot work, etc.
Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
Directs employees to those who can provide interpretation of company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
Directs and assists workers in mechanical and hydraulic maintenance and repair of conveyor machinery and heavy equipment.
Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
Directs and assists workers engaged in dismantling, assembling and installing industrial equipment and machinery.
Maintains inspection, time and production records. Prepares daily work schedule to utilize manpower efficiently.
Monitors and reports to supervisor spare parts inventory/shortages.
Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
Interprets specifications and job orders to workers and assigns duties.
Has understanding and grasp of environmental impact of Bulk material handling operations.
Takes lead in assuring performance of daily maintenance and troubleshooting conveyor and heavy equipment problems and directs repairs.
Performs activities of workers supervised, i.e. this is a working foreperson/lead person.
Leads a crew of 4 to 5 daily and performs other duties that may be assigned.
Trains and communicates to others proper rail car and truck unloading procedures for domestic shipments and unit trains.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Ability to put together work schedules for efficient manpower utilization.

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required.
3-5 years' experience required or equivalent combination of education/experience .
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Proficient in reading policies and procedures and written work orders.
Must be able to effectively communicate verbally.
Must work schedule as assigned and overtime with little to no notice during the week, weekends, holiday, etc. as needed for operational needs.
Basic computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, Word and various operating systems, and other company software.).
Communication with supervision and coworkers via radio or hand signals.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, ECT:
Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers and must be willing to use personal and/or company vehicle in the course of employment.
Must to pass and complete Safety training/certification as required by customers to work in their facilities and as required by Kinder Morgan at all locations; Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) is required.
Equipment operator's certification for equipment being operated; or one to three month's related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Understand and comply with customer and Kinder Morgan's rules and policies.
Must be willing and able to work as a part of team, take direction from supervisor(s), keep required work schedules, focus attention to details, and follow work rules.
Ability to carry and communicate over a company-provided mobile radio/company cell phone.
Must be capable to handle evolving conditions.
Ability to identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
The employee must regularly lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and also but not limited to: heights in excess of 5 feet, moving mechanical parts, moving on track rail equipment, fumes, airborne particles, vibration, uneven terrain and a high noise level in the work environment.
Required to stand, walk and climb for extended periods of time.
Must wear fire retardant clothing.
