The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking a dedicated professional to join the Central Operations and Services (CO&S) team as a Senior Space Planner. This team plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient space planning and facility management that supports DHHS' mission to help Nebraskans live better lives.

Examples of Work
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Project Management: Managing interior space renovation projects by coordinating with agency staff, external consultants, contractors, and landlords. This includes conducting on-site inspections to verify compliance with project specifications.
Space Planning and Layouts: Providing comprehensive space planning services, including creating complex interior layouts for new and existing furniture systems to optimize functionality and usability.
Drawing Updates: Maintaining and updating drawings to reflect "as-built" conditions, ensuring accurate and current documentation.
Client Collaboration: Meeting with internal and external clients to assess interior space needs, develop preliminary floor plans, and provide specifications and cost estimates for a variety of renovation projects.
Plan Review and Compliance: Reviewing plans and specifications developed by external architects to ensure alignment with agency standards and requirements.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring building compliance with Life Safety Codes, ADA standards, the Federal Prison Rape Elimination Act, Hospital Joint Commission standards, CMS standards, and other relevant state and local building codes.
Infrastructure Coordination: Developing floor plans that integrate data, phone, and electrical port requirements into space planning and renovation designs.
Requirements/ Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Vocational-technical degree in computer aided drafting (AutoCAD) and three years of experience performing interior space planning for large spaces including project management OR education and training in computer aided drafting and five years of experience performing interior space planning for large spaces including project management; experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Interior Design and 3-5 years' experience. Documented project management experience, experience assessing spaces for Life Safety and ADA compliance and providing action plans to address deficiencies; knowledge of state and federal building codes or similar experience interpreting and applying state or federal code to infrastructure or construction projects; assessing customer needs; experience managing multiple projects and project budgets; and vendor management.
Other: Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
