The North Carolina Academy for Stress, Trauma and Resilience (NCA-STAR) was initiated within the Department for Counseling and Educational Development (CED) in the School of Education and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. NCA-STAR serves as a trauma-informed and culturally responsive place where those who experience trauma and life crisis can find hope for healing and resilience within a safe, supportive, and professional environment.
CED is looking for a full-time director (herein called director) for NCA-STAR to assist the continued development of training, service and research initiatives that are/will be based in the community, schools, and on the UNC Greensboro campus. This position will continue working with the department and department chair to engage primarily in work that positively impacts trauma-informed approaches and practices, and improves mental health and behavioral interventions within K-12 school systems. This outreach may include workshops and trainings, developing future programming - both in person and video/asynchronous, as well as providing consultation within schools including but not limited to K-12 educators, K-12 students, K-12 school personnel, future school counselors, teachers, and school personnel, and school-based mental health providers. Additional work may include, but is not limited to assisting in networking and developing campus and community partners, leading and/or carrying out CED and NCA-STAR development initiatives, coordinating services between NCA-STAR, the Nicholas Vacc Counseling and Consulting Clinic within CED, faculty and staff within CED, and personnel within SOE; conducting evaluations and research related to the programming that NCA-STAR provides or creates; and assisting in grant writing related to future NCA-STAR activities that will fund both this position and future activities of NCA-STAR.
