Major/Essential Functions
Provides patient services under direct supervision and responsibility of Physician and/or Medical Director.
Involvement in patient evaluations, both follow up and new patient clinic visits, may include inpatient rounds.
Elicits detailed patient histories.
Screen New Patient intake packets for needed information:
MD referral details and office notes, op notes
Pathology reports, slide requests and procedure notes.
Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
Administers or orders diagnostic tests and interprets test results for deviations from normal in collaboration with Physician.
Performs therapeutic procedures and post follow up care such as injections, immunizations, wound care, staple removal and chemotherapy orders.
Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes and assist in provision of continuity of care.
Answer patient phone calls, provide symptom management during operating hours.
Assist with routine medication refills, new Rx in consultation with attending Physician.
Provide notification of test results to patients (Pap/HPV, bone density scans, routine x-rays).
Assist with chemotherapy education and counseling.
Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed regimens.
Optional, provides surgical assistance.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Graduation from a Physician Assistant's training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association. Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants. OR Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners. Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners or ability to transfer certification to Texas.
