Job Role Summary
The General Maintenance Technician performs general maintenance duties required to keep the building and associated components functioning properly. This position is responsible for testing, repairing, and documenting preventative and corrective maintenance.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Follows all policies and procedures
Performs general maintenance duties required to keep the building and associated components operating properly
Including but not limited to light plumbing, mechanical, electrical, hvac, building automation, and carpentry work.
Responsible for communicating with customers the issue and solution for requested work which includes timelines, parts, and/or resource needs
Responsible for communicating with department members in a timely manner issues that need assistance or specific trade skills
Responsible for understanding and completing preventative maintenance as assigned in the required timeframes
Responsible for documenting time spent and completion comments for completed work orders within the same shift
Responsible for testing, recording and logging information for preventative maintenance
Responsible for maintaining inventory or communicating proactively to Supervisor part needs
Responds to fire alarms and operates a fire extinguisher inside or outside building
Maintain assigned tools in good working condition
Attends training as required
Requests training as needed to perform job duties
Use of radio or mobile phone as directed for immediate communication with hospital staff
Responds to building related emergencies
Answers customer request phone calls utilizing customer service skills
Follows all OSHA safety regulations
Follows oral and written instructions
Performs routine surveillance of assigned areas and corrects or passes on issues immediately
Maintains records of inspections and work performed
Performs housekeeping duties
Job Requirements
Completion of high school or equivalent (GED)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and related trades
Thorough knowledge of safe work practices as it relates to OSHA
Ability to read and interpret schematic symbols, blue prints, drawing/service information
Ability to effectively establish daily work priorities and patterns
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the hospital, organizational and external agencies
