Join the Dynamic Team at the Thoracic Oncology Research Collaborative Hub (TORCH) led by Dr. Carbone



Position Overview: TORCH is seeking a motivated individual to join our rapidly expanding team that supports research labs (7) and multiple clinical collaborations as a Laboratory Research Operations Coordinator 3. Ideal candidate will be familiar with laboratory operations including, regulatory protocols (IBC, IACUC, IRB), EHS compliance (CHP, ECP, SOP), routine lab maintenance, ordering, organization, and basic molecular biology techniques. This position focuses more on the lab-oriented organizational and administrative duties. You will provide guidance and support for our highly collaborative team comprising of students, post-docs, senior lab staff, and PIs focusing on thoracic oncology.



This position is being posted at 75% FTE with the expectation that as workload permits or as other PIs join TORCH the job will increase to 100% FTE. (TORCH is actively recruiting PIs)

Responsibilities:



  • Overseeing the day-to-day maintenance, ordering, and organization of TORCH laboratories as needed under direction of senior lab members and/or PIs

  • Assist with regulatory protocols (IBC, IACUC, and IRB) - monitoring of key personnel and periodic review.

  • Assist with EHS compliance - updating CHP (including chemical inventories), ECP and SOPs; annual reviews and creating new procedures as requested by senior lab staff and/or PIs.

  • Provide support to senior lab staff and/or PIs with delegated tasks relating to grant applications, progress reports, budgets, manuscript preparation, etc.

  • Participate in search committee during the screening stage, for hiring new lab/support staff within TORCH as needed.

  • Participate in TORCH lab meetings - maintaining schedule and adjustments as needed.

    • May include training of lab/support staff on new SOP or procedures that have been established



  • Provide wet-lab (molecular biology support) and dry-lab (IHIS, clinical support) in temporary capacities as needed for TORCH labs and clinical collaborations.

    • Provide the necessary documentation that is required for the project supporting - this can differ between labs/collaborations.





Education and Experience:



  • Minimum Qualification: High School diploma or GED, and 2 years of relevant experience required.

  • Requires successful completion of a background check and completion of a pre-employment physical including drug screen



Desired Experience (Preferred but not Required):



  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a health sciences or life sciences is preferred and 4-6 years of relevant experience.

  • Knowledge of laboratory operations and relevant compliance and regulatory documentation.

  • Basic knowledge of molecular biology techniques.

  • Knowledge of IHIS



Commitment and Teamwork:



  • Support laboratory operations across multiple research labs working in tandem , report results, and prepare presentations.

  • A strong willingness to work in a team environment is essential.
