Job Summary: The Plattsburgh City School District is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Special Education to lead and oversee our special education programs. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement special education programs and services in compliance with state and federal regulations. Supervise and support special education staff, including teachers, teaching assistants, aides, and related service providers. Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and parents to ensure the effective delivery of special education services. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of special education programs and make necessary adjustments. Ensure that Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) are developed, implemented, and reviewed in a timely manner. Provide professional development and training for special education staff. Manage the special education budget and allocate resources effectively. Stay current with best practices and legal requirements in special education.

Masters degree in Special Education or a related field. New York State certification in School District Leadership (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA). Minimum of 5 years of experience in special education, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Strong knowledge of state and federal special education laws and regulations.
