Under the clinical supervision of a supervising physician, the incumbent is a certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who possesses advanced training/skills in assessing, diagnosing, and treating the well patient as well as the patient with acute illness and disease. Works in a collaborative team practice that recognizes the patient as the central focus. Supports the physician in situations requiring physical assessment and complex communications with patients. Serves as a patient educator in areas of specialization.
EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Graduate of a State-approved school of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant . Master of Science degree and Nurse Practitioner certification in an area of specialty required. Possess a current license to practice as a professional nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and authorization to practice in the expanded role. Possession and maintenance of or eligibility for DEA and Mass DPH Controlled Substances Registration. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty.
EXPERIENCE
Two years of experience with strong preference for experience as a Nurse Practitioner within a primary care setting.
SKILLS
Good organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy clinical environment. Exceptional customer service skills. Above average oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently. Ability to effectively communicate and work with physicians, residents, nurses, patients, families, staff, other health care professionals, and management.. The ability to work as a team member is necessary for this position.
