Position Overview: Stellaromics is seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to establish and lead our finance and accounting function. This is a highly strategic role and represents a unique opportunity to be the first finance hire in a fast-growing, pre-IPO life sciences company. As the Controller, you will be responsible for all aspects of financial management, budgeting, and accounting as we scale. This role will begin as a senior individual contributor position with the potential to grow into a leadership and management role as the company expands. Key Responsibilities: Financial Management & Reporting: Oversee the day-to-day accounting and financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards. Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the budgeting process, including financial modeling, forecasting, and tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs). Collaborate with senior leadership to align financial goals with business objectives. Cash Flow & Treasury Management: Monitor and manage company cash flow, working capital, and liquidity needs. Ensure financial stability and plan for future funding rounds. Month-End Close & Financial Statements: Supervise month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules. Ensure timely, accurate, and complete financial reporting. Internal Controls & Compliance: Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets, ensure proper accounting, and adhere to applicable regulations. Support audits and ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements. Transaction Processing & Inventory Management: Manage high transaction volumes related to product sales, inventory, and supply chain. Ensure accurate accounting for product inventory, cost of goods sold (COGS), and revenue recognition. Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and systems. Help implement best practices for scaling finance operations within a growing organization. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with senior leadership, operations, sales, and product teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making across the organization. Qualifications: Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Masters degree or CPA preferred). Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a finance role, with a proven track record in financial management and accounting. Experience in a life sciences company, particularly in a tools, diagnostics, or biotech environment, is highly preferred. Skills & Expertise: Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements. Proven ability to manage high transaction volumes, product inventory, and complex financial transactions. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling. Knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems (experience with life sciences or biotech tools is a plus). Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial data to non-financial stakeholders. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing demands in a rapidly changing environment.
