Position Description

The IT Support Specialist is primarily responsible for supporting the IT related questions and problems of our office staff and service technicians through phone, email, and in-person interactions. Additional duties may include hardware and software setup for new hires, maintaining Plunkett's Active Directory user & group databases, working with production cloud solutions, network administration, backup/imaging systems, troubleshooting issues, and documenting key aspects of the job. A positive attitude, quick thinking, and follow-up are critical characteristics of this role.


Essential Job Duties

• Help Desk Support via Phone, E-mail, Tickets, and In-Person.

• Setup, install, and maintain Windows and Mac computers for office and remote workforce.

• Create Equipment Maps for Electronic Logbooks.

• Process IT related tasks for New Users and Terminations.

• Provide High Level Support for specific platforms.

• Assist with VOIP configuration.

• Support an on-prem Windows Active Directory environment synced with Azure/Microsoft 365.

• Assist with SQL script writing.

• Cooperate with company management by performing any other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

• Associates Degree in computer or information systems program; equivalent experience will be accepted.

• Minimum 1 year help desk experience.

• Minimum 1 year experience supporting Windows and Mac computers.

• Minimum 1 year experience working with Microsoft Office, including Teams and OneDrive, in an office environment.

• Ability to read, legibly speak, and understand English; must be able to communicate clearly and effectively to internal and external clients.

• Ability to learn a new program and begin supporting that product within a reasonable amount of time.

• Must be able to work in-office Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 PM and can be on-call at times.

• A favorable drug test and acceptable background record are also required.


Preferred Requirements

• Experience with Windows Server and Microsoft 365 environment.

• Working knowledge of Watchguard and Sonicwall firewalls.

• Working knowledge of Synology NAS and backups.

• Previous experience working with MacOS computers in an Active Directory environment.

• Proficiency in working with SD-WAN.

• Experience with conference room audio/visual systems.

• Working knowledge and understanding of multi-office networking, including DHCP, DNS, routing, VPN, and VOIP.

• Experience with SQL programming language.


Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Communicates through telephone conversations, face-to-face interactions, texts, and email.

• The ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

• Sitting for long periods; occasional bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching.

• Read printed materials and a computer screen.

• Stamina needed to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions.

• Must possess the mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment including a computer, keyboard, and telephone.
