The Controller will guide aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, and assist in the development of MHK’s internal control policies and procedures. This role is critical to ensuring the financial health and compliance of our revenue streams.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
Directs and plans the maintenance of fiscal records and preparation of financial reports that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings, based on past, present, and expected operations.
Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations, filings, and audits.
Participate or lead internal audits of company accounts.
Collaborate with external auditors for year-end audits.
Revenue Management:
Assess revenue recognition for SaaS subscriptions and professional services.
Monitor deferred revenue and ensure timely and accurate revenue recognition.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Participate in annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting activities.
Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
Operational Excellence:
Maintain robust financial systems, processes, and internal controls.
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
Partner with cross-functional teams to optimize operational efficiency.
Leadership & Team Development:
Supervise and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Act as a strategic partner to the executive team, providing financial guidance and insights.
Skill Requirements:
7+ years of progressive accounting and audit experience required; leadership experience is preferred.
Knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition principles.
Experience with financial systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to present detailed reports and recommendations to leadership.
Education/Certification Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Additional Requirements:
Familiarity with revenue recognition standards.
Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis.
Ability to travel to the Tampa, FL or Guilford, CT offices as necessary.
