Release Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, coordination, packaging, and deployment of software releases for our NextGen and CurrentGen HCM portfolio of products. This role is crucial in ensuring that new feature functionality, enhancements and bug fixes are delivered consistently and reliably to our customers on-time across a wide range of products.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in managing releases in a fast-paced HCM environment and will work closely with scrum teams, QA, Product, Project Managers and Leaders to ensure successful deployment across lower and upper environments
Key Responsibilities:
Release Planning & Coordination: Plan, coordinate, manage and perform deployments across multiple environments (e.g., Sandbox, Development, Staging, UAT and Production).
Release Management: Maintain a forward-looking perspective of upcoming release, coordinating releases across different teams, resolving release issues, and communicating with stakeholders
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, project managers, scrum teams, QA, SRE, and DevOps to resolve release dependencies, deployment issues and ensuring clear communication is shared with the organization and stakeholders
Release Management Governance: Apply release management and change management governance standards in every release, ensuring each release meets the necessary entry requirements, quality, integrity of package and traceability of code prior to its release.
Ensure timely delivery and resolution of any issues that arise before, during or after each deployment
Risk Management: Identify potential risks and issues related to release, QA certification and implement mitigation strategies to avoid disruption or delays.
Release Documentation: Ensure all necessary release documentation are created, accurate and maintained, including release manifest, deployment plan, change order, QA certification, approvers, etc.
Post-Release Activities: Monitor the performance and health of releases and coordinate with relevant teams to address any post-release incidents
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field (Computer Science, Information Technology and Software Engineering)
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in release engineering, DevOps or SRE field.
Proven track record in managing complex software release from start to finish. HCM experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of DevOps and Release Engineering practices, E2E testing and tools like Jenkins, Argo CD, Git, Bitbucket and Splunk
Proficient in Agile project management tools like Jira, ServiceNow, SolveIT and Atlassian Confluence
Ability to work night shift and weekend as needed to support deployment activities, incidents and critical client issues
Experience in managing and coordinating multiple releases simultaneously.
Deep understanding of software development lifecycles and Agile methodologies.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Experience in working with large cross-functional teams
