A local client is currently hiring an experienced Product Category Manager to join their growing product line and operation. Candidates will be tasked to develop in-depth product knowledge to serve as the subject matter expert for a range of products. Evaluate cost and margin of products in assigned categories to make decisions on the products we stock and where we source them from.
Objective
Maximize gross profit for assigned categories while maintaining fulfillment rate, product quality & appearance, and stock level.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Manage all SKUs within assigned categories:
Gross profit %
Fulfillment rate
Product appearance, quality, and private label
Pricing (to stay competitive with the market)
All product details including description, UOM, weight, details, and more.
Develop subject matter expertise in assigned categories to answer product specification questions for customer-facing resources.
Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and internal departments
Identify gaps in product offering and add new items.
Maintain product data for all SKUs in assigned categories.
Negotiating with current vendors and prospective vendors to ensure we get the best quality and price.
Constantly finding new opportunities or vendors to maximize gross profit and cost savings.
Maintaining days on hand below 90 days on all assigned products and categories.
Work with Sales Team and Customer Service to support special product requests from customers.
Document and track all vendor supplier issues and product quality issues while applying countermeasures.
Issue monthly scorecard to assigned vendors
Respond to all communications from vendors and Benchmark in a timely manner.
Review inventory reports to identify potential inventory issues or concerns including overstock situations.
Perform industry research to understand the supplier landscape, important cost drivers, and primary procurement challenges.

Fulfillment Rate % (target 98%)
