Job Description

Job Title: Staff Accountant Date: December 2024

Reports To: Director of Finance

Summary

American Fan has an opportunity for a Staff Accountant, based in our Fairfield, OH facility. The candidate will work closely with accounting team members at our Fairfield, OH location and remotely with other locations as needed to ensure all necessary processes are completed in compliance withestablished policies and procedures. This candidate will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment and possess the qualities mentioned but not limited to: strong attention to detail, organizational aptitude as well as a high degree of ethics. American Fan will consider candidates who are ready to fulfil this role in its entirety and candidates who have the aptitude and desire to quickly grow into this role .

Primary Duties and Responsibilities


  • Support the accounts payable, accounts receivable, PP&E & month end close
  • Responsible for assisting with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities.
  • Financial close activities can include the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and financial analysis for assigned accounts.
  • Assist with trial balance, forecast, and budget info submissions into our corporate reporting tool (HFM)
  • Communicating frequently with Sales, Purchasing, and other functional team members to encourage teamwork and support a solution driven environment.
  • Perform daily ERP (Visual) and Concur AP tasks such as creating, approving, posting, and auditing payment schedules.
  • Daily customer and vendor responsibilities including invoicing, collections, dispute management, cash postings, and customer/vendor maintenance.
  • Perform reporting activities to include AR/AP aging, KPI's, cash forecasting support, past due tracking / resolution, sales, expenses, and progress billing (frequency may vary)
  • Weekly reviews to include billings, cash collections, dispute management, payment proposals and other cash focused activities.
  • Establish and maintain financial and compliance processes, including a strong internal control environment to assure the records of the company are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Reconciles and investigates cash variances.
  • Prepares monthly reporting comparing actual to budget, as needed.
  • Applies expense controls through delegation of authority policies and other necessary internal control management tools.
  • Performs various banking activities to include positive pay, ACH, and check processing.
  • Monitors and supports accurate sales rep commission reporting and payments.
  • Complete all assigned tasks timely and accurately.
  • Assists with internal and external audits.
  • Support the annual budget and periodic forecasting activities.
  • Ensures compliance with GAAP, SOX, and other regulatory requirements and upholds all current accounting practices.
  • Actively seeks continuous improvement to be implanted within owned processes.
  • Supports other projects and initiatives, as assigned by the Finance Director.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements .


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business, or related field from an accredited university.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in Accounting, notably experience in financial close and meeting tight deadlines
  • Manufacturing experience is a plus, but not required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in use of an ERP computer software package; preferably Visual
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Ability to work independently or in a group setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a history of cross-functional collaboration
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • This position includes access or potential access to export-controlled data. Therefore, you will need to qualify as a U.S. Person, which is defined as a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. Permanent Resident or a political asylee in compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Acceptable proof of this status includes a US Passport, Permanent Resident Card, US birth Certificate or Naturalization Certificate. Maintenance, including renewal, of licensing authorization is a condition of employment. Government authorization may be a suitable alternative after review on a case-by-case basis.
