This Opportunity
In this role, your primary responsibility will be to use your expertise in the field of viral vector design and production to assist customers with selection of appropriate viral vectors for their research. You will consider a variety of factors, such as adenovirus/AAV serotype, promoter, and cloning approach, while drawing upon Vector's libraries of genes and viral vector components. You will also help clients with experimental design and troubleshooting, as needed. You will act as the primary point of contact for customers who are interested in Vector's AAV and adenovirus products and production services. The successful candidate is a skilled communicator who is passionate about discussing scientific ideas with customers and solving problems.
What You Will Do
Communicate with customers on technical considerations for delivering their genetic payload to the target cells and tissue, including choice of serotype, vector design, cloning strategy, etc.
Provide information on services, products, pricing, etc.
Take orders via phone, email, and other channels.
Manage customer relationships and conduct outreach to identify new customers.
Contribute to internal discussions surrounding market positioning, customer outreach, and new capability development.
Monitor and stay informed of the latest advances in relevant science and technologies.
As deemed necessary, the Scientific Application Specialist may be required to perform other duties not listed on the essential responsibilities.
Who You Are & What You Bring
Education / Background:
PhD in a Life Science field + 3-4 years of relevant experience, or MS/BS in a Life Science field with 5-7 years of relevant experience.
In-depth knowledge of and practical experience with current AAV techniques, methods, and applications is highly desirable.
Experience in independently leading research projects with a focus on gene delivery using AAV/adenovirus.
Experience in customer-facing roles desirable but not required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Deep scientific expertise in AAV/adenovirus production and use, with ability to apply this knowledge to solve customer problems.
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers, and effectively communicate complex scientific information to them.
Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Ability to quickly learn new concepts, techniques, and tasks specific to AAV and adenovirus production.
Ability to work effectively both as part of a team as well as independently in a customer-facing role.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, etc. Experience with CRMs such as Salesforce beneficial but not required.
