Summary: The Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining an organization's IT network infrastructure. This role ensures the efficient operation, security, and reliability of networks, including LANs, WANs, internet, and intranet systems.
Responsibilities:
Network Design and Maintenance:
Design, install, and maintain network hardware and software.
Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN connections.
Monitor network performance and make adjustments as necessary.
Troubleshooting and Support:
Diagnose and resolve network-related issues.
Provide technical support and guidance to users.
Maintain logs of network activities and problems.
Security Management:
Implement and maintain network security measures.
Ensure compliance with security policies and standards.
Manage firewalls and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
Performance Optimization:
Monitor network performance, identifying bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
Recommend upgrades or improvements to maintain optimal performance.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations.
Create and update user guides for network resources and tools.
Collaboration:
Work with IT teams to support infrastructure projects.
Collaborate with vendors for network upgrades or repairs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Certifications like CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent are often preferred.
Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
Experience with network management tools and monitoring systems.
