The role
AOA Dx is seeking a talented and experienced Data Scientist to join our Research and Development (R&D) team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field, with specific experience in mass spectrometry. You will play a pivotal role in leveraging your mass spectrometry expertise and data analysis skills to support the development of an early-stage diagnostic pipeline aimed at the detection of ovarian cancer.
As part of the AOA Dx R&D team, you will be responsible for analyzing complex mass spectrometry data and using your scientific knowledge to inform the development of diagnostic tools. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful research in the field of cancer diagnostics.
Responsibilities
Serve as a domain expert in mass spectrometry data analysis, providing support for R&D efforts related to the detection of ovarian cancer.
Define and optimize LC-MS strategies for peak identification and validation of biomarkers associated with early detection of ovarian cancer.
Contribute to the development and execution of the R&D publication and conference submission strategy.
Present research findings and progress to internal teams and diverse stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of complex biological data.
Stay current with the latest trends, research, and advancements in mass spectrometry and related fields.
Qualifications
PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field. Candidates with an M.S. or B.S. degree with relevant expertise and experience will also be considered.
A minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience working with mass spectrometry data.
Experience working with metabolomics and lipidomics datasets
Deep understanding of lipid and/or small molecule biology
Strong statistical analysis and data analysis skills.
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex biological data into concise, understandable insights for diverse audiences.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, often under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
In-depth knowledge of cancer biology, and proficiency with algorithmic and statistical methods applied to cancer diagnostics.
Skilled in analyzing data in R and/or Python.
Familiarity with Unix-based environments and high-performance computing environments.
A strong external presentation and publication record is preferred.
Salary and Benefits
Salary range: $116,000 - $125,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
