Job Description:

Title: Sr. Policy Manager of The Coalition for Justice and Equality Across Movements

Supervisor: Director of the Coalition for Justice and Equality Across Movements Direct Reports: 1 Exempt Position

Remote Position (anywhere within the United States)

Salary: $100k to $120K

Education: Juris of Doctorate (JD)
  • Lead the creation and expansion of policy coalitions by identifying potential partners and stakeholders. Develop and implement policy strategies to advance the coalition's goals and objectives.
  • Lead the coalition in crafting advocacy plans, including lobbying efforts, public campaigns, and legislative initiatives.
  • Engage with policymakers at local, state, and federal levels to advocate for coalition priorities.
  • Represent the coalition in external meetings, forums, and conferences to promote its policy objectives and strengthen its influence.
  • Work closely with grassroots organizations, interest groups, and other partners to build broad-based support for policy initiatives.
  • Manage communications and updates to coalition members to ensure clarity and alignment.
  • Conduct policy analysis to identify opportunities for coalition action and inform decision-making.
  • Provide timely reports and policy briefings to coalition members, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
  • Stay informed on relevant policy trends, legislative developments, and political dynamics to anticipate challenges and opportunities.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities to support coalition activities and initiatives.

Cultivate strong relationships with coalition members, ensuring alignment of goals and active engagement.
  • Coordinate coalition activities, meetings, and communications to facilitate information sharing and collaboration.

  • Develop and manage the coalition's budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  • Lead and mentor junior staff and policy analysts, fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Coordinate internal resources and ensure the alignment of organizational priorities with coalition efforts.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of coalition efforts and advocacy campaigns.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders and leadership on the coalition's impact and progress toward policy goals.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Juris of Doctorate (JD) degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Experience: At least 5-7 years of experience in policy advocacy, coalition-building, public affairs, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading or managing coalitions and/or large-scale advocacy campaigns.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholder groups, including non-profits, government agencies, and private-sector partners.
  • Strong understanding of the legislative and policy-making process.
  • Experience working with government officials Skills: Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to foster collaboration and resolve conflicts within coalitions.
  • Demonstrated leadership, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate challenges and develop proactive solutions.
  • High level of political acumen and an understanding of advocacy tools and techniques.

Additional Desired Qualities:

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • Familiarity with relevant policy areas (e.g., healthcare, education, environment, social justice, etc.) depending on the focus of the coalition.
  • Proficiency with digital tools for coalition management and advocacy.
